The Rangers face-off against the Carolina Hurricanes tonight at RBC Center (8:00 p.m.), in the first game of a home-and-home set. The Blueshirts currently rank fourth in the Atlantic Division standings, and 10th in the Eastern Conference, with a record of 18-17-4 (40 pts.). The Rangers enter tonight's contest having been defeated by the Philadelphia Flyers, 6-0, yesterday at Madison Square Garden to snap their five-game point streak (4-0-1). The Hurricanes enter the contest with a 10-22-7 (27 pts.) record, and rank 15th in the Eastern Conference. Following tonight's game, the Rangers will face-off against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday, Jan. 2, at Madison Square Garden (1:00 p.m.), to close out their home-and-home set.

1st goal keeper in the Swedish national ice hockey team (Tre Kronor).

Has got an identical twin, called Joel.

Recorded his first NHL win on October 13, 2005 at Madison Square Garden vs. the New Jersey Devils in a 4-1 win, and earned First Star honors.

Posted his first career shut-out in an October 17, 2005 home game vs. Florida, stopping all 23 shots in a 4-0 win.

Named the NHL's Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, January 22, 2006; Led the Rangers to three victories and posted a 1.62 goals against average and a 94.5% save percentage over the span.

His 30th victory made the Rangers the first team in NHL history to have a rookie goaltender total at least 30 victories in the same season that a rookie skater registered at least 30 goals (the rookie skater was Petr Prucha).

Posted a 4-3 record in shootouts during 2005-2006 season.

Where They Are Now: Remains the New York Rangers primary goaltender.

June 25, 2000 - Lundqvist was the Rangers 7th selection, 205th overall, in the 2000 NHL entry draft.

In the 2005-2006 NHL season, Lundqvist appeared in 53 of 82 games with the Rangers. His record was 30-12-9, with a record of 21-6-4 at Madison Square Garden. His goals against average was 2.24 (1.96 at MSG), and a 92.2% save percentage (93.1% at MSG). Posted two shutouts, both at home.

Lundqvist is the primary goaltender for the New York Rangers of the NHL. He is uniform number 30.

Made his NHL debut on October 8, 2005 with the New York Rangers vs. the New Jersey Devils in an away game at The Meadowlands. He stopped 24 of 27 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss.

On March 12, 2009, he became the first goalie in NHL history to win 30+ games in his first four seasons, with a win over the Nashville Predators.
